Cleansing Your Conscience Too — Second EFC Brooklyn
For the second Sunday of Lent we will be in Hebrews 9:1-15. We find that, because Christ obtained redemption by his own blood (v. 12), we look to Him as the mediator of the New Covenant (v. 15). In the first tabernacle of the Old Testaments, we are told that gifts and sacrifices (of the first tabernacle) were not able to clear the conscience of worshipers (v. 9). So, is cleansing of our consciences possible? Now it is! Not only does Christ, as our ransom, set us free from our sins (v. 15), but the blood of Christ cleanses our conscience (v. 14). This sort of transformation goes beyond the forgiveness of our sins and our reconciliation with God through the atoning sacrifice of Christ. Let us remember the fact that Christ entered the Most Holy Place. We are also celebrating the Lord's Supper this Sunday to commemorate Christ's finished work on the cross.
