PASTOR STEPHEN LEUNG | LEAD PASTOR
Pastor Leung joined us on July 1, 2022, having previously served in Queens and Long Island for twelve years. Pastor Leung is the husband of Vicki and the father of their four sons, Benjamin, Matthias, Isaiah, and Timothy. Stephen is a second generation Chinese-American born in St. Louis, Missouri, to immigrant parents from Hong Kong. He grew up in Kentucky, went to college in Massachusetts, and met Vicki in Virginia while he was serving a shore tour with the U.S. Navy.
Having served in the Navy, and then working as a contractor to the federal government, Pastor Leung heeded the call to full-time vocational ministry and headed to seminary, back in St. Louis, along with his family in the early 2000s. He ministered in the St. Louis area immediately following seminary before taking a call in New York City in 2010. He counts his experiences of serving in an assortment of immigrant, majority-culture, and multi-ethnic church settings as shaping influences and sources of incredible joy in seeing how wonderfully the Lord Jesus works among his people in a variety of settings. However, he views the opportunity to serve in the richly diverse setting of Second EFC, reaching the communities surrounding Sunset Park to be an enriching culmination of all his past experiences.

DANE DEMCHAK | CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR
After graduating from Nyack College, Dane has been serving at Second Evangelical Free Church since 2012 and joined on staff as the Children's Ministry Director in 2018. Previously Dane served as the Youth Ministry Director and various non-profit youth organizations in Pittsburgh, PA. Dane is the husband to Lindsay and the father to Omri, Scout, and Esa.
Dane has a deep love and passion to serve his neighbors of Sunset Park. Before joining 2efc, Dane worked for 4 years with the local non-profit organization, assisting immigrant families and individuals with a wide range of neighborhood-based family and social services while continually being involved in the community through business endeavors. Dane is passionate to see children, families, and students know the love of Jesus in the same transforming way he encountered Jesus through his youth group as a teen. Our children's ministry intentionally helps equip families together with their children to learn and experience more about God's love. Each Sunday we do this through story, activity, and creative play while participating in ways to serve the church and our neighbors around us.
