Ascension

Before Ascension Day and as we draw towards the end of Eastertide, we will be looking at the Ascension accounts both in Luke 24:50-53, the close of the Gospel according to Luke, and Acts 1:1-11, the beginning of Luke's second book. We will see that because Jesus ascended after his resurrection, we joyfully look forward to his return. Why should we take a closer look at this? Well, we still wonder about "what's next" and about the coming Kingdom much like the disciples did before Jesus ascended. While we wait for Jesus to return just as he departed, it is appropriate to 1) rejoice and praise the ascended King, and 2) witness with the power and presence of the Holy Spirit.
