Fear of God and True Religion

Rounding out the first chapter of James (verses 19-27), we focus on what is said regarding the preeminence of God's word. While there is a great deal introduced in these verses, we find that God's implanted word is able to save our souls (v. 21); as such, we hear and do his word (vv. 22, 25). While we often deceive ourselves when we are not doers of the word (vv. 22-24), we find that we need to 1) attend to the word that reflects a perfect God (vv. 19-21); and 2) act on the word and thereby authenticate a true religion (vv. 26-27).

We are getting active! This week we begin our Sunday School series for adults. This will immediately follow our Q&A time and tea and coffee time. Our next fellowship meal is October 25th. We are holding an outreach event in Sunset Park on October 31st (Reformation Day), from 4 to 6 p.m. There will be a program for neighborhood children and parents the evenings of November 13th and 14th. We are holding baptisms on November 15th.  We would love for you to be there for it.
