Keeping On

Returning to the first chapter of James (1:12-18), we find the importance of a "blessed endurance." Even when we are tempted to question God's goodness (vv. 13-14), we find that because God has chosen us to be "firstfruits" (v. 18), we "keep on" under trials with a promised crown of life (v. 12). This "keeping on" involves 1) keeping away from sin, which births death (vv. 15-16) and 2) keeping in mind the generous nature of God, who births life (vv. 17-18).  This Sunday we are also celebrating the Lord's Supper, while keeping in mind the future celebration for which we have been called and redeemed.

We continue with our Q&A sessions after the worship service welcoming questions about the sermon or the Christian faith. Coming next week, we will be starting our short-run Sunday School series for adults, led by our elders, that will consider the ideas of Rod Dreher's Benedict Option.
