New Series: Stories Jesus Told

A Dangerous Delay

Beginning a series looking at the parables that Jesus taught along the way to Jerusalem in the Gospel of Luke, we pick up the story of a fruitless fig tree (Luke 13:6-9). Although God is mercifully patient, we should quicken our repentance resulting in life. We can be deceived by the shortage or slowness of justice.

In Jesus telling of the story and the context in which he told it, we see that 1) despite appearances, we must appreciate the mercy God extends; and 2) we must apprehend the fruit (repentance) that God intends (to find in us).

Avoid a delay that is actually dangerous. Come consider this with us.
