On His Terms
We begin a series for the Summer from the book of Leviticus. Out of the Law laid down, we can see our good God, the grace we need, and the Gospel we have received. This week we will consider Leviticus 1 and find that because God desires for us to draw near and enjoy His loving presence, we must come to Him on His terms to experience His favorable acceptance.
While we may not regularly think it or seldom recognize it, we actually want our offerings to be acceptable to the Lord — that it may make a difference and things would go well with us. The problem is, we are inclined to think that we can simply worship on our own terms. As we look at the opening chapter of Leviticus, we quickly see that the Lord does make it known to us: 1) offerings that please the Him; and 2) the mediator that speaks for the Lord to His people.
Curious about how this works? Ultimately, the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.... (John 1:14) Join us this week, the rest of July, and most of August, as we discover "how much more, then, will the blood of Christ . . . cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! (Hebrews 9:14).
