As we look at what unfolds in the seventh chapter of Esther this Sunday, we see finding favor with the King means life (v. 3) and, thus, we name the enemy that confronts us (v. 6). While we can be late in realizing what we have coming (v. 7), we find that while God remains sovereign, we are responsible for 1) stepping up with our skills and sensibilities (v. 4); and 2) reckoning with the King's rage. (v. 10). We are still two weeks from Labor Day, but it is always a good time to think about how we labor.
