Thanksgiving, Father’s Day and the Call of the Child

This coming Sunday is Father's Day. We will make sure we recognize our "Dads and Grads." At 2EFC that means it is time for the men to be colorful, much as the ladies are for Mother's Day. But the men will be donning Hawaiian shirts instead of saris.

Aside from this pageantry, this Sunday will be one of our semi-annual Thanksgiving Services. Different congregants will be afforded time to share with us what they are thankful for that God has done or been doing in their lives. As Psalm 34:1-2 (NIV) says: "I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted heat and rejoice." We are actually gladdened in hearing the praise and thanksgiving offered by each other.

A short homily on the grace shown us who are called children of God from 1 John 3:1-3 will cap the time of sharing. We are invited to see how 1) we are loved by him; and 2) we shall be like him. It would be great to have you with us.
